At the same time vaccine manufacturers can now sell the vaccine directly in the open market and at a pre-determined price to state governments. The state government will be able to buy the vaccine directly from vaccine manufacturers. So far, only those above the age of 45 years were being vaccinated, but now those above the age of 18 will also be given the vaccine on May 1.

Which vaccines in India?

At present, there are three vaccines in India. There were already covishields and covaccines. The recently made Russian vaccine Sputnik V has also received approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for the use of sputnik.

How to register for the vaccine?

You can register on the portal (cowin.gov.in) of Co-WIN for getting the corona vaccine. You can also register IVRS i.e. automated phone calls or call centers. Call 1507 for IVRS. The Union Health Ministry had said that the facility of ‘on-site’ registration will be available so that eligible beneficiaries can register themselves and get vaccinated at the immunization center of their choice.

How will the center be known?

Visit www.cowin.gov.in website. Click Find Your Nearest Vaccination Center here. After you enter the address or place name, you’ll start doing the nearest center show.

Won’t there be a corona after getting vaccinated?

There is no direct answer. Even after getting vaccinated, people are being advised to wear masks and follow social distancing. There are two doses of the corona vaccine, and there is a gap of 28 days, during which time special precautions are being asked to be taken. There have been some cases where the infection has taken place within a few days of getting the corona vaccine. About such cases, experts say it takes about two weeks for immunity to form inside the body after vaccination. In the meantime, the utmost care has to be taken.
