Nisith Pramanik: Youngest minister of PM Modi, as much controversial as successful
That was about 17 years ago. An 18-year-old boy from Cooch Behar district of West Bengal marries his girlfriend against the wishes of the family members and leaves for Bangalore with her.
On his way to Kharagpur, he meets an orphaned girl.
The boy gives him food first. Later the girl tells him that she has no one, so he should take her with him. The girl stays with the new couple till Bangalore.
After reaching there, the boy tries to leave the girl under the care of the police. But later on the advice of the police, he decides to keep him with him.
At the age of just 18, the young man took the responsibility of taking care of an orphan girl along with his wife. And after 17 years, on 7th July 2021, this boy took the oath to take charge of the post of Minister of State in the Government of India.
Today we will talk about Nisith Pramanik in Political Story. Who is in discussion due to both the big success of his small political journey and criminal cases?

Used to put cigarettes on the table to avoid beating
Nisith, 35, is the first Union minister from his district. Nisith, who became an MP from Coochbehar, a seat reserved for the Scheduled Castes of North Bengal, comes from the Rajvanshi community. He was born into an ordinary family.
His teachers describe him as having a sharp mind. But it is also said that Nisith used to run away from studies. Manas Chakraborty, who gave him private tuition in class 11, says that “Bittu” i.e. Nisith used to run away from studies. they say,
“There was not much difference between me and Nisith. I was his teacher but his brother was more.
Whenever he did not do homework or did not study, to avoid punishment, he would put a cigarette on my table and as soon as I came, he would say – brother, you smoke a cigarette first, and then tell me that he has not done homework. Still, I would punish him. Hitting with a stick, but he was so cunning that he used to hide the stick earlier.”
At the same time, Nisith’s childhood friend Shantanu Das says that Nisith sings very well. Says, “He used to write songs too. He had a big heart. He may not have money in his pocket, but he used to say that we are the descendants of the king, we should live like a king. He always wanted to be big. He used to sing songs at good times.
Political journey begins
Nisith Pramanik’s mother Chanda Pramanik was in the Trinamool Congress and had been the head. As Nisith grew up, his political inclination was also towards Trinamool.
By then, he had become an assistant teacher in primary school by doing a diploma in elementary education from Mekhaliganj College.
The Trinamool came to power in Bengal in 2011 by defeating the undefeated Left government for more than three decades. After this, the party formed its youth wing, ‘Trinamool Yuva’ on July 25, 2011.
Its leader became Mamta Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee. That’s when Nisith also joined the Trinamool youth and was elected as the vice-pradhan from his village Bhetaguri in the 2013 panchayat elections.
After this, his stature in the party increased. Nisith started the fight to give more opportunities to the youth within the party.
Gradually he intensified the activities of the Trinamool youth and became a special of Abhishek Banerjee.
During this, criminal cases were also registered against Nisith. His image was that of a Bahubali leader. He had a rift with the big leaders of the district. We will talk a little later about what happened to Nisith due to this.
Nisith is an accused in serious cases
There is no doubt that Nisith Pramanik has achieved great success in a political career of just 10 years. But his journey was not spotless at all.
According to the affidavit filed with the Election Commission, 11 cases are pending against Nisith.
These include all serious charges like murder, coercion with a woman, dacoity, robbery, theft, attempt to murder, land grab. However, people close to Nisith believe that these cases are the result of political malice.
It is worth noting that most of these cases are from when Nisith was in TMC. A senior Trinamool Congress leader, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that Nisith was a victim of internal fighting within the party.
The big leaders of the district were not happy with him. Therefore, on the pretext of these cases, Nisith was expelled from the party.
The Trinamool leader also told that Nisith had been waiting for a long time to return to the party. But this could not happen.
And now there is news that after he became the Union Minister, the people of TMC have started mentioning these pending cases.
He alleged that how can such a person be made a minister, against whom many criminal cases are registered.
Apart from this, TMC has also questioned the degree of Nishit. He says that Nisith has spoken to different degrees at different times.
Sometimes he has described himself as a class 10 pass and sometimes as a Bachelor of Computers.
However, now Nisith Pramanik is the Minister of State for Home of India. He has had a very short political career.
He became an MP for the first time in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Then in the 2021 assembly elections, he defeated Trinamool MLA Udayan Guha by just 57 votes from the Dinhata seat.
But he did not take oath in the assembly as per the order of the party.
According to political experts, by including him in the cabinet, BJP has strengthened its hold on the Rajvanshi community. This community is in good numbers not only in Bengal but also in Assam.
