Goa Liberation Movement 75 Years: After 60 Years That War Of Independence Completed
On the occasion of seventy-five years of Goa Liberation Movement and 60 years of Goa’s independence, a two-day national brainstorming was organized in Margao by Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Research Foundation, Delhi.

In addition to the seed speech of Konkani Sahitya Akademi Awardee litterateur Shri Datta D Naik, representatives from all over the country on the subject of Dr Ram Manohar’s contribution to the Goa Liberation Movement in a total of five sessions deliberated deeply with an open mind in a two-day national brainstorming. -Discussed.
The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session, Hon’ble Governor of Goa, PS Sreedharan Pillai, said that he is particularly happy to attend this function because his father has been associated with Ram Manohar Lohia’s Samajwadi Party.
Perhaps it is because of this association that His Excellency the Governor has given an amount of ten thousand rupees to this conference in good faith.
The presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamath on one stage was special in many respects.
One, in the sense that both the ruling party and the opposition recognized the important contribution of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia in the independence of Goa.
Secondly, despite Lohia’s running of non-Congress politics, Digambar Kamath did not hesitate to participate in the national brainstorming organized on Lohia’s contribution to the independence of Goa.
This event in Goa has not only increased the acceptance of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia but has also increased the stature of Digambar Kamath.
With the joint efforts of Digambar Kamath and MLA, Vijay Sir Desai and the special cooperation of the then Governor of Goa, Satya Pal, the restoration of Lohia Maidan and the construction of ‘Open Stadium’ became possible.
It was from this ground on 18 June 1946 that Dr Ram Manohar Lohia raised the flame of the liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule, it reached the destination of success after the Indian military operation on 19 December 1961.
